Being in my mid twenties, I think I'm late to the bandwagon of facial skincare routines.
I've always had oily skin, and a good deal of thought goes into products to combat this.
About four weeks ago, I headed to the Clinique counter and hooked myself up with their three step routine. I would consider this luxury purchase, as I love a bargain, but well worth it if they work for you, and even better if you can purchase it during Clinique 's bonus time promotions.
Step one- Liquid facial soap
This fragrance free wash has a gel consistency, and lathers easily. It doesn't sting and isn't abrasive (cough, cough Clearasil). I'm using this night and day. It cuts through the dirt and oil well.
Step two- clarifying lotion
Sweeping this over your face with a cotton wool pad, this builds on the good work of the wash, and leaves me feeling squeaky clean and matte.
Step three- dramatically different moisturising lotion
This is yellow in colour, and has a really light texture. You are supposed to put this on twice a day. Here's where I struggle- this cream sits on top of my face, even if I only apply it at night- MY T-ZONE WILL NOT MAKE FRIENDS. I'm still using it, but I'm not sold.
Face mask-
I'm using Superdrug Clearly Youthful Glycolic Peel . It's a steal at less than a fiver, goes on thick, dries in 10ish minutes and peels right off. An easy addition to my skincare routine, definately recommend this for those short on time.
Face wipes
I mostly take the day's warpaint off using Primark's own range (the green packet, for combination skin). These aren't the best, and I often feel like there's still a layer of make up to remove. I'm looking to replace these- suggestions welcome!
Also worth giving some love to the Body Shop Seaweed Range- in particular the day cream, just enough moisture without a heavy, sticky finish and no nasties. A more affordable alternative, which I may well return back to.
